Stanford researchers this past weekend tested 3200 people for antibodies to the Covid-19 virus.
Dr. Eran Bendavid, the co-leader of study, conducted the study to better understand the prevalence of the disease. The results of the study are expected to finished within a week. The hope is the data can be used to drive public healthcare policies. Knowing who and how many people have been exposed to Covid-19 and recovered at a large scale may be able to help figure out when we may be able to return to work. There is a theory in the Bay Area that may of us have already been exposed in January and February prior to the shelter-in-place order. No one knows for sure. This landmark first in the nation study is an example of using science to drive policy.

Just now, it was reported by the Covid-19 White House task force that 10s of millions of antibody tests should be available by May. This is good news. We can then begin to figure out how many people have had the illness and developed antibodies.
