Stanford researchers studied more than 3200 people for antibodies to the coronavirus that is responsible for the pandemic. They estimated based on their results that the death rate from the virus is between 0.1 and 0.2%. This is radically lower that the numbers that have been quoted in the media to date. This study and others are important pieces of data that should be used to drive policies about how to best prevent further infections and to help politicians figure out when it is safe for all of us to return to work and other activities.
